Sanctuary schemes
Your local council may run a sanctuary scheme, which aims to give people at risk of domestic violence the option to remain in their homes by improving safety and security.
The measures could include:
- reinforced doors
- extra locks
- spy holes
- security lighting
- intercoms and video systems
- safe rooms (also called sanctuary or panic rooms) where you can wait in safety until help comes
